CO School Library Cuts

School Librarian Cuts

Many of Colorado’s school librarians are currently facing huge challenges in light of the proposed budget cuts that are affecting so many of our schools. Here at the Colorado State Library we are deploying several strategies to advocate and educate our non-librarians and librarians alike as to what our future generation of children will be facing without certified professionals to help them.

One of our strategies is to post sample “letters to the editor” on our website. It is our hope that we can provide the opportunity to get ALL community members and walks of life to speak out on behalf of how school librarians make a positive impact on students and their achievement and to save our children from the effects of this crisis.

Check out a few sample “letters-to-the-editor at our CSL School Library link: http://www.cde.state.co.us/cdelib/LibraryDevelopment/SchoolLibraries/index.htmto

Feel free to use this as a basis to compose a letter of your own. And, if you have any samples or great letters that you would like to share and/or have posted, please contact Becky Russell (contact information below.) Thank you in advance for your support.
