  1. GET INVOLVED!?!? Want to know how!! Of course you do!

There are many ways for school librarians to become involved with their state organization. At the CAL conference several of us met to find out just how to make that happen. There are now 4 new people who volunteered to join committees so they can represent school librarians around the state. If you missed this meeting, let me tell you one way you can participate and have fun doing it. Volunteer volunteer volunteer

    CAL committees are:
Conference Committee – help to plan next year’s conference
Intellectual Freedom -monitor and distribute information about pertinent library issues
Legislative – keep library issues at the forefront, advocate for libraries
Publications – create articles for journal, newsletter and website
Membership – help to encourage new membership
Awards – honor colleagues who deserve recognition
Library Marketing – PR and education about library marketing

You can also run for the CASL or CAL Boards next year. But, getting involved is the first step. Questions? Visit the CAL site http://www.cal-webs.org/committees.html or contact me gilbert.susan@comcast.net

So, what do you think? Please respond tell us your thoughts.

    Susan Gilbert
    CASL President

  2. Hi Sue:

I would be willing to volunteer to work on the Technology side of CAL or CASL this year; I have been very busy with my job but I feel I need to reconnect with CAL and CASL this year…

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Sincerely yours,

    John Williams
    Dakota Ridge High School

  3. Thanks for volunteering, John.

The organization is only as strong as its members and their willingness to help. I hope Susan is hearing from more volunteers. We need EVERYONE!

Even a few minutes a month contacting non-members, mentoring a new teacher librarian, or participating in the Blog will support school librarians in Colorado.
