It’s that time of year again. Our partnership with TIE continues with the CASL at TIE Strand all day Wednesday, June 20th in the Hasties room (the former TIE Book Store location). There are a great number of school librarians/leaders presenting. More information will be coming but in the meantime, check out our site for session details. https://sites.google.com/site/caslattie/
I became interested in how deeply “library skills” were embedded in literacy standards after reading “Library Skills” = Information Literacy Skills = Common Core Skills by Sara Kelly Johns in the March 23rd post on School Library Journal’s Make Some Noise Blog. Sara did a “find” search of the word “research” in the “College and Career Readiness Anchor Standards for Writing,” which showed 56 results. I took it a step further with a word count analysis of Colorado K-12 Reading, Writing and Communicating Standards. It shows that the skills, lessons and tools provided by School Librarians are embedded in 21st Century Literacy. School Librarians TEACH 21st Century Skills!
