<description>What do you need from AASL? Ann Martin, AASL President, said, “I am gravely concerned about the loss of library positions throughout the country.”

I have been asked to compile a list of concerns from Colorado school librarians. Please list your concern(s) and what action(s) you request of AASL (American Association of School Librarians). I will compile these requests and submit them to Ann Martin. Upon completion, the Statement of Concern will be posted to this blog so you know what is being submitted. After the Affiliate Assembly in July, I will update you via the CASL Blog and the CAL news letter. Please contact me with news, concerns, proposals, etc. Part of my job is to be the voice of my state. As we are challenged by these times, we must stick together because there is power in numbers and there is power in quality programs.

<description>Teacher Librarian, Carl Harvey, and principal, Vince Barnes, are the keynote speakers at &quot;Celebrate a Winning Team&quot; at the CAL Pre-Conference November 6th! Check out their outstanding article, &quot;Principal Perspective, Part I: The Role of the Library Media Specialist,&quot; in School Library Media Activities Monthly/Volume 25, Number 2, October 2008.

&quot;Celebrate a Winning Team&quot; at the CAL Pre-Conference November 6th is open to everyone -- first come, first served. (No Application to fill out) If the librarian takes their principal with them to this session, the principal gets in free! Don&#039;t miss out on this excellent presentation. Give your principal the opportunity to hear how this successful team ensures a collaborative culture in their school -- and, the important role the librarian plays in teaching and learning.

Sign up now at: http://cal-webs.org/conference.html

Share this information with your librarians in your school district and community.

Thanks,
