The Colorado Department of Education Standard’s Implementation Team has recentely uploaded a “Toolkit” at http://www.cde.state.co.us/cdeassess/UAS/StandardsImplementation.html. After clicking on “Toolkit,” each link on the left-hand side offers other links to many standards training power points and other items that you can use to train your staffs on the new standards. Of particular interest to school librarians:
1) A link to 21st century skills performance indicators for students (aligning CDE’s 21st century skills with ISTE’s student performance indicators. Get there by clicking on “Awareness and Dissemination” and the “Explore the Key Elements” and scroll to the bottom. (Yes, we KNOW it’s WAY buried there!!) But it’s worth looking at!
2) Access “Content Discipline Maps” of each content and grade level. These invaluable one-page maps give each grade level and/or content teacher a quick snapshot of the major focus areas of the new standards and the way in which the standards are interconnected. Access these gems by clicking on “Transition” and then “Design Tools.”
If you have any questions or would like mini-trainings of these and more invaluable Standards training tools, contact Becky Russell, CDE School Library Consultant and Standards Implementation Team member at russell_b@cde.state.co.us or call 303.866.6772.
