CAL Board News

Posted by Susan Gilbert, CASL President, on behalf of Dr. Jody Howard, CAL President.

 Dear Colleagues:

The current economic climate in Colorado has impacted our organization in much the same way it has your places of employment. As you know, CAL is primarily supported by the annual conference  and through our membership dues. Since January our membership has dropped significantly and we are concerned that this will also impact the number of attendees at our conference.  It is critical that we do all we can to increase our membership and to encourage as many people as possible to attend the conference.

To that end, I would exhort you to contact your friends and colleagues in the library community  and encourage them to renew their membership as they register to attend the conference. If we all do this, it will help us in achieving our goal.  Our current financial situation is critical.

At a recent Board meeting where we were assessing the current financial condition of CAL, we voted to look at a variety of options on how to reorganize CAL so that we can continue moving forward with the mission and goals of our organization. As we gather this information, we will share it with you to ask for your input and suggestions.

As always, we value the input from CAL members and potential members. I encourage you to contact me with any questions or suggestions.

Thank you for all of your great efforts and work. Your support at this time is extremely important.

Jody
