Colorado Model Content Standards
Did You Know??
The Colorado’s Standards are under review. As described at the CDE website, “Colorado Model Content Standards will be revised and adopted by the Colorado State Board of Education by December 2009.” It seems that just one school librarian is represented in the rewrite process—District 51’s Becky Johnson is on the Science Committee. Also, Nance Nassar from the Colorado State Library is involved with the review of the Colorado Standards.
You can see the various subcommittees listed at http://www.cde.state.co.us/cdeassess/documents/OSA/stand_rev_committee_members.html
LIBRARIANS ARE KEY TO STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Can you help us spread this message to the committees? Perhaps you have a teacher colleague or friend who serves on one of these committees that might carry forward the importance of libraries.
**Will you please take a minute to look at some of the key groups to see if you know a member of the committee?? Just two of the subgroups are listed below: http://www.cde.state.co.us/cdeassess/documents/OSA/stand_rev/Reading%20and%20Writing.pdf
