Joyce Valenza promotes school libraries
Some of you have already read this post on Joyce Valenza’s NeverEnding Search, but she refers to how important it is to advocate for yourselves in your schools. Interesting that she developed this video when we are in the midst of needing to strongly promote our programs. Take a look at the video she has developed.

Thanks for sharing this, Phil! I really like the way she frames this in terms of equity – I think this is a term that our state leaders understand. I would encourage school librarians to share this short video at a PTO meeting, rotary club – or other community event. Let’s start taking the message to the people who care the most about an equitable education -the parents. It worked in Washington!

Phil,
I read your comment on Joyce Valenza’s site. You’re absolutely right, Colorado librarians need to advocate for ourselves; if not us???? I like the previous comment made by Nancy White, “Let’s start taking the message to the prople who care the most… the parents.” Thanks for providing the link to the video; it sums up what we do quite nicely.
